What is Preface about?
The First Asian Conference on Crystal Growth and Crystal Technology (CGCT-I) was held in Sendai, Japan in August 2000 for the purpose of enhancing crystal growth techniques including shaped growth with extremely fine fibers and Czochralski growth with huge diameters, as well as crystal technology such as the application of crystals in optical, nonlinear optical, and electro-optical elements and in electrical and electronic devices; basic studies on their application to instruments were also covered. Asia is becoming a very important world center for the production of not only motor cars, but almost all electronic and electrical equipment and devices, with crystal growth and crystal technology being fundamental keys for such industries. We would like to enhance the science and technology of crystals, which includes physics, chemistry, electronics, machinery and computer science.
