What is Tyler about?
Tyler was born infected with HIV. He required continuous medication delivered through a tube in his chest to survive. Despite facing a deadly disease, Tyler maintained a joy for life, playing outside while wearing his medicine-filled backpack and dragging an oxygen tank. Though the disease weakened Tyler, he remained unafraid of death, telling the author shortly before passing to dress him in red when he died so his mother could find him in heaven.
