This literature review summarizes data from 33 studies published between 2005-2012 on the pathogens associated with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and antibiotic treatment of CAP in adults in Europe. Streptococcus pneumoniae was the most commonly identified pathogen causing CAP, found in 12.0-85.0% of patients across studies.
