This document discusses the performance and stability of an anaerobic hybrid reactor (AHR) subjected to hydraulic load fluctuations. The AHR was able to withstand periodic reductions in retention time from 3 to 2 and 1 days for periods ranging from 8 to 72 hours. While shorter fluctuations had minimal effects, longer fluctuations at 1 day HRT promoted acid accumulation and drops in pH and methane production. However, the AHR was able to rapidly recover its operational stability within 1-2 days in all cases.
