What is Cloud RAN and eCPRI Fronthaul in 5G Networks about?

5G networks will use eCPRI over fronthaul to centralize radio functions using split 7 architecture. eCPRI allows placement of PHY layers between DU and RU units with 10Gbps-140Gbps bandwidth. eCPRI supports user plane, sync, control over IP with benefits like reduced bandwidth, scaling, and operation tools.
