212 pages : 22 cm Green Time features 14 stories written during an independent fiction-writing workshop in 2002 held at the Good Shepherd Center in Seattle, Washington, a grey, haunted landmark that formerly served as a wayward girls' home. The moody setting somehow proved to be the ideal site for new writers with fresh stories-which is why we've interspersed Tim Rounds' recent photographs of the building's gloomy brickwork and grounds with these new works of fiction. For whatever reason, there is a welcome absence of gimmickry and stylistic bravado in this collection. There is a fragility that is beautifully green. All proceeds will go to PEN International's Readers and Writers Program "14 new stories from Seattle fiction-writing workshop."
