This document describes a study analyzing and quantifying levels of trans-resveratrol in red and white wines from the Alentejo region of Portugal. A simple high performance liquid chromatography method with UV detection was validated. Trans-resveratrol was detected in all 47 red wines tested at levels up to 2.64 mg/L and in 8 of the 21 white wines tested at levels below 0.19 mg/L, consistently higher amounts in red wines. The method was validated with an uncertainty of results ranging from 16.33% to 27.15%.
