This study examined the effect of presenting music after learning a word list on long-term retention. 127 participants learned a word list and were then exposed to either positively or negatively arousing music 0, 20, or 45 minutes later. One week later, participants completed a recognition test and personality questionnaires. Retention was significantly enhanced when the music was presented 20 minutes after learning, regardless of the music
