What is Kuroshio Current Intrusion Model Insights about?

This research article studies the onshore intrusion of the Kuroshio Current into the East China Sea. A new analytical formula is developed using a two-dimensional momentum balance to better simulate the flow pattern of the Kuroshio intrusion. This new formula addresses limitations of previous models and explains features like the seasonal variation in the intrusion. Satellite data and models confirm that the new solution provides a reasonable estimation of the intrusion direction.
