About this document

Asymmetric Bioreduction of Keto Groups of 4 - and 5-Oxodecanoic Acids Esters With A New Carbonyl Reductase by Regina is a document available to read on EtoBox.

A novel carbonyl reductase (SmCR) from Serratia marcescens was cloned and overexpressed in E. coli, demonstrating the ability to asymmetrically reduce long-chain keto acids/esters, specifically 4- and 5-oxodecanoic acids, to produce chiral γ- and δ-decalactones with high enantiopurity (up to 99% ee). This study marks the first enzymatic synthesis of these lactones from keto acids using free enzymes, highlighting the potential of SmCR in environmentally friendly biocatalysis. The enzyme
