What is Latifa about?

Latifa and her family survived the 2004 tsunami in Banda Aceh, Indonesia. With no external assistance, Latifa planted a highly productive home garden outside their emergency shelter to provide food for her family. The garden grew vegetables, fruits, and medicinal plants using minimal inputs. Despite its success, relief agencies failed to support similar food production efforts that could have improved nutrition and well-being for other families displaced by the tsunami.
