What is Alabama Politics : Tell It Like It Is about?

Fightin Shorty Price, who described himself as-four-feet-twelve- ran for governor, lieutenant governor, Congress, the state House of Representatives and presidential elector. He never won an election, but when he beat out Coleman Brown for sixth place out of seven candidates in a race for governor, the headline in the Ozark, Alabama, newspaper read, "Price Beats Brown in Gov. Race". Shorty was George Wallace's college roommate, but they had a falling out. Shorty dedicated the rest of his career to trailing and harassing George at campaign rallies. He and his daughter would lead the crowds in, "Shorty, Shorty, he's our man. George Wallace belongs in the garbage can." In 1972, Price campaigned to reduce the term of governor from four years to two. He said, "If you can't steal enough to last you the rest of your life in two years, you ain't got enough sense to have the office in the first place."
