This study compared outcomes for 47 patients treated for severe sepsis or septic shock with intravenous vitamin C, hydrocortisone, and thiamine (treatment group) to 47 control patients treated prior to use of this protocol. Hospital mortality was significantly lower in the treatment group at 8.5% compared to 40.4% in the control group. Organ dysfunction and vasopressor use also improved in the treatment group.
