1) Soakaways must be at least 1 meter above the winter water table and 3 meters away from building footings or boundary walls. 2) They must be filled with gravel or other material between 50-100mm in size and have a perforated pipe and ventilation pipe. 3) The percolation rate of the soil must be determined to size the soakaway appropriately according to testing standards.
