What is Overview of SIFMA about?

SIFMA was formed in 2006 through the merger of two securities industry trade groups. It represents over 650 securities firms, banks, and asset managers in the US and Hong Kong. Due to financial difficulties faced by its member firms during the 2008 financial crisis, SIFMA laid off over 25% of its US staff and later closed its London office. The American Securitization Forum also terminated its affiliation with SIFMA in 2010.
