What is Magnetorheological Fluid Overview about?
Magnetorheological fluids are dispersions of soft magnetic particles in a carrier oil. When a magnetic field is applied, the particles align and cause the fluid to rapidly increase in viscosity. This change is reversible - removing the magnetic field causes the fluid to return to its original liquid state. MR fluids have various applications including vibration dampening, brakes, clutches, and exercise equipment by allowing viscosity to be controlled almost instantaneously with an external magnetic field.
