This document is the Slovenian standard SIST ISO 457:1995 dated August 1, 1995. It describes a titrimetric method for determining the chloride content of soaps. The method involves dissolving a test portion of soap in hot water, adding nitric acid and silver nitrate, and titrating with ammonium thiocyanate to determine the chloride content expressed as a percentage of sodium chloride. The test is applicable to soaps with a chloride content greater than 0.1% (m/m).
