Magnetic refrigeration, based on the magnetocaloric effect, has created the opportunity for developing an efficient and environmentally friendly cooling technology. Magnetic refrigeration can in principle be much more efficient than conventional processes because of its reversible nature and it does not rely on ozone-depleting chlorofluorocarbon refrigerants.
