This study evaluates the safety impacts of pedestrian countdown signals (PCSs) with and without pushbuttons at intersections in Michigan, using a decade of crash data. Results indicate that intersections with PCSs and pushbuttons experienced a 29% reduction in total pedestrian crashes and a 30% reduction in fatal/injury pedestrian crashes, while those without pushbuttons showed no significant change.
