What is Neoplasms of the Small Intestine about?
Tumors of the small intestine are uncommon but occur both in a sporadic and syndromic setting. Similar to other sites in the tubal gut, adenocarcinomas and neuroendocrine tumors are the most common malignancies while other tumor type are rare. Some unique tumors, such as gangliocytic paraganglioma and lymphoma subtypes in patients with celiac disease, only occur in the small intestine. Ampullary adenocarcinomas display distinct morphological phenotypes that are clinically relevant. This chapter is a concise overview of the most common small intestinal tumors, their clinical significance, and current management strategies.
