What is LeaseGuard: Optimizing Raft Leases about?

LeaseGuard is a novel lease algorithm designed to enhance the Raft consensus algorithm for distributed databases by ensuring consistent reads while minimizing communication overhead. It optimizes read and write availability during leader elections and eliminates the need for expensive quorum checks, significantly improving performance metrics. The paper details the implementation and evaluation of LeaseGuard, demonstrating its advantages over traditional lease protocols in terms of efficiency and reliabilit
