What is Orchestrate about?

This activity allows students in grades 3-5 to orchestrate and arrange Modest Musorgsky’s ‘The Old Castle’ from Pictures at an Exhibition. Students will experiment with different tempi, instruments, styles and volumes using an online orchestration tool. They will listen to the original piano version and a orchestrated version to explore how arrangements can vary. Each student will then create their own arrangement and present it to the class for assessment.
