Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) is a spectrum of abnormal trophoblastic tissue proliferation associated with pregnancy, classified into molar tumors (complete and partial hydatidiform moles) and non-molar tumors (gestational trophoblastic neoplasia). Epidemiologically, GTD has an incidence of 66-121 per 100,000 pregnancies, with higher rates in certain demographics and risk factors including extremes of maternal age and previous molar pregnancies.
