The Chalcolithic Culture existed between 2000 BC and 700 BC in parts of India and saw the first use of copper alongside stone tools. Farming communities grew crops like barley, wheat and lentils and domesticated animals. They lived in mud houses and buried their dead in burial grounds. Artifacts include Black-and-Red pottery, copper tools and ornaments. Notable Chalcolithic cultures included the Jorwe culture in Maharashtra and the Ahar culture in Rajasthan which practiced metallurgy and copper working. How
