What is Cementing Process for Casing Strings about?
The cementing process provides protection against corrosion and involves pumping measured quantities of cement down the casing string. A bottom floating plug is inserted, followed by cement and a top plug. Pressure is applied to the drilling mud, moving the cement down until the bottom plug ruptures at the float collar, allowing the cement to fill the annular space. Curing takes 6 to 24 hours as the cement is prevented from flowing back up the casing.
