To the Editor, A condition that persists after infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), often called Long Covid, long COVID syndrome, post-COVID-19 conditions, post-acute COVID-19 syndrome, or post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2, 1-5 commonly occurs during recovery of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Long COVID can influence the quality of life and cause an increased medical and economic burden worldwide, 6 and there is still a lack of medication for the prevention or treatment. Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir/ritonavir) was granted Emergency Use Authorization in COVID-19 patients in December 2021 by the Food and Drug Administration of the United States. 7 A previous study reported that Paxlovid can reduce the risk of hospitalization or death by 89% among patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 who are at risk of developing severe disease (high-risk patients). 8 However, data on the Long COVID of COVID-19 in patients after Paxlovid treatment are lacking.
