This study examined risk factors for birth trauma (BT) and the short-term neonatal outcomes of BT. The researchers found that of over 118,000 singleton full-term births, 2,874 cases (24.3 per 1,000 births) were diagnosed with BT. The most common types were scalp injuries (63.9% of cases) and clavicular fractures (32.1% of cases).
