Humanure recycling involves building a compost toilet connected to a three-chamber compost bin. All organic materials including human waste are added to the bin and thoroughly covered. The toilet bucket is emptied into the bin weekly and rinsed. The fresh materials are buried in the center of the pile to maximize heat from decomposition while older materials age on the sides. After a year of filling and a year of aging, the finished compost can be used to feed plants.
