About this document

Properties and Uses of Limestone by Mohd Syafiq Akmal is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Limestone is a sedimentary rock formed from the accumulation of calcium-rich materials like shells and bones at the bottoms of lakes and seas over thousands of years. The heat and pressure of burial causes the sediments to recrystallize into a solid limestone rock. Limestone is composed primarily of calcite (CaCO3) and has a hardness of 3-4 on the Mohs scale. It is used widely in construction for flooring, wall cladding, vanity tops, and furniture due to its hardness, density, and resistance to weathering.
