What is Max Brödel: Pioneer of Medical Illustration about?
Max Brödel was a pioneering German medical illustrator in the late 19th/early 20th century. He moved to the US in 1894 to work at Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he became friends with Harvey Cushing, the father of modern neurosurgery. In 1911, Brödel created the first university medical illustration department at Johns Hopkins, training nearly 200 illustrators over 30 years. His illustrations were characterized by meticulous accuracy and helped advance the fields of neurology and neurosurgery.
