This study investigates the structure of adsorbed deuterated myoglobin layers on hydrophobic surfaces using neutron reflectivity. It finds that at low protein concentrations, a dense layer of approximately 13 Å forms, indicating protein denaturation, while at higher concentrations, an additional layer of proteins in their native conformation is observed. The results highlight the influence of surface hydrophobicity on protein conformation during adsorption.
