About this document

Meiosis: Stages and Genetic Diversity by وجدان الشدادي is a document available to read on EtoBox.

Meiosis reduces the chromosome number from diploid to haploid. It occurs in two stages, meiosis I and meiosis II. In meiosis I, homologous chromosome pairs separate into different cells. This is followed by meiosis II where the sister chromatids separate, resulting in four haploid daughter cells each with half the number of chromosomes of the original diploid cell. Meiosis contributes to genetic variation between offspring which is important for evolution.
