What is Black Bug Preference on Sugarcane Varieties about?

The study investigates the varietal preference of the black bug, Cavelerius excavatus, on nineteen sugarcane varieties in Sindh, Pakistan, revealing that all ratoon varieties were susceptible while freshly grown varieties showed no infestation. The highest populations of adults and nymphs were recorded on LAmTj-76/803 and BO-14, respectively, while CO-475 exhibited the lowest populations. The findings suggest avoiding ratoon cropping to mitigate losses from this pest.
