This study analyzes the transient seepage response and slope stability of the Gavoshan Dam in Iran during rapid reservoir drawdown using numerical simulations. Results indicate that under a maximum drawdown rate of 1.20 m/day, seepage discharge and exit gradient decreased significantly, while the factor of safety against sliding remained within acceptable limits. The findings emphasize the importance of considering transient unsaturated flow in dam safety assessments to mitigate risks during rapid drawdown
