Push control strategies can perform better than pull for flexible manufacturing systems producing multiple products, according to a simulation study. The simulation showed that under a pure push strategy, the manufacturing line achieved a higher throughput for a given inventory level compared to a pure pull strategy, when product mix changes affected demand and processing times.
