The pancreas is located behind the stomach and produces digestive enzymes and hormones like insulin and glucagon. It has two types of tissue - exocrine tissue that secretes enzymes and endocrine tissue made up of islets of Langerhans that secrete hormones. Pancreatic cancer risk factors include smoking, age, sex, chronic pancreatitis, diabetes and family history. Symptoms are often vague but can include jaundice, abdominal pain, weight loss and weakness. Diagnosis involves blood tests, imaging and biopsy. T
