What is Submandibular Ganglion Overview about?
The submandibular ganglion is a parasympathetic ganglion that relays secretomotor fibers to the submandibular and sublingual salivary glands, connected to the trigeminal nerve and functionally related to the facial nerve. It is located on the outer surface of the hyoglossus muscle and has three roots: parasympathetic, sympathetic, and sensory. Its branches supply the submandibular gland and join the lingual nerve for additional innervation to the sublingual and anterior lingual glands.
