Tally is an accounting and inventory management software developed by Tally Solutions Pvt Ltd in Bangalore. It was first introduced in 1985 and has since added numerous features and capabilities with each version. Tally uses a double-entry accounting system to record transactions through vouchers and maintain ledgers to generate reports like trial balance, profit and loss statement, and balance sheet. It comes with predefined ledger groups for different types of accounts and transactions.
