What is History of Monreal about?

Bernardino Monreal was born in 1856 in Albay and became the first Filipino governor of Sorsogon in 1902 after being imprisoned by the Americans for supporting the revolution. As governor, he restored peace after the war and cleaned up corruption in the bureaucracy. For his exemplary leadership, he was later appointed to a national post by the American governor-general. A town and street are named after him in Masbate and Gubat respectively.
