What is Debris formation due to weathering, avalanching and rock falling, landsliding in SE Tibet about?

Different kinds of rock mass are currently undergoing changes from blocks to debris (fragments and grains) in the earth surface. The debris, accounting for a large percent of the loose materials in Southeast Tibet, is naturally formed through three ways as weathering, avalanching and rock falling, and landsliding. Recorded and evaluated rates of debris in the Parlung Tsangpo drainage basin are presented in this paper based on field investigation and data analysis. From the three ways, it is found that the weathering rate was 41.2~52.7%/year according to volume loss percentage, avalanching rate was 10~50m 3 /3minutes at one time, and the landsliding rate is 0.149m/year. Compared with corresponding rate values in other parts of the world, it is known that in SE Tibet, the weathering rate is relatively higher, and the landsliding rate perhaps the highest. These data are to be cumulated to support preliminary design of geo-engineering projects and assist in prevention of geological hazards.
