What is Use of non-absorbable suture for stabilizing pubic diastasis in a child – Case report with review of literature about?

Background Pelvic injuries in the paediatric population are relatively rare and thus there are scanty reports in the literature about their management. Traditionally these injuries were managed conservatively; however, recent studies have shown more inclination towards operative management because of the limited remodeling potential. Case report In this report, we describe an uncommon, unstable pelvic injury in a 5-year-old child which needed open reduction and stabilization of the pubic symphysis. Conclusion We report a rare injury, management, and innovative technique of stabilization of the pubic symphysis in a 5-year-old child. We recommend adding non-absorbable sutures to the armamentarium for the management of paediatric pelvic injuries.
