What is Black Soldier Fly Frass for Nitrogen Retention about?

This study investigated the production and use of black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) frass for retaining nitrogen from urea in soil. BSFL were reared on decanter cake to produce frass. The frass was found to have good agronomic properties after 45 days of rearing and was not toxic to plant growth. When incorporated into soil along with urea, the BSFL frass improved nitrogen retention in the form of ammonium and nitrate due to its high organic carbon and total organic matter content. Combined application of BSF
