Can I read NO+·O2 versus NO3+ – which is the more stable? on EtoBox?
NO+·O2 versus NO3+ – which is the more stable? by Edmond P.F. Lee; Timothy G. Wright is a Physics and Astronomy article available to read on EtoBox.
What is NO+·O2 versus NO3+ – which is the more stable? about?
The geometries of the lowest stationary points on the triplet and singlet 'NO q ' potential energy surfaces are investigated. It is found that the skewed T-shaped NO P O X A state has the lowest energy, with a linear A S minimum lying ; 1 2 kcal mol y1 higher in energy. About 1 eV higher in energy lie the cis and trans isomers of the closed-shell a 1 A X state, with 1 X q the cis state being lower in energy. Above the a state lies the D X A state of NO -the cation of the nitrate radical. It is ̃3h 1 3 found that the MPn series is rather oscillatory for NO q , and so is probably unreliable. The binding energy, enthalpy and 3 ̃3 Y q entropy of complexation of the X A NO P O complex are calculated and compared to available values. Ionospheric 2 implications are noted.
