Erwin und Elmire ist ein dramatisches Werk, das in Form eines Singspiels geschrieben wurde und von der Liebe zwischen den beiden Protagonisten Erwin und Elmire erzählt. Die Handlung spielt in einem ländlichen Umfeld und ist von der Natur und der Romantik geprägt. Das Werk ist in drei Akte unterteilt und enthält zahlreiche Lieder und Gesänge, die von den Charakteren vorgetragen werden. Goethe selbst bezeichnete Erwin und Elmire als sein erstes erfolgreiches Bühnenstück.
