About this document

Ownership Concentration in U.S. Firms by www495398 is a document available to read on EtoBox.

This paper presents evidence that challenges the belief that ownership of U.S. public firms is diffuse, revealing that 96% of firms have blockholders who collectively own an average of 39% of common stock. The findings indicate that U.S. ownership concentration is similar to, and in some cases more concentrated than, that of firms in other countries. This research suggests a reevaluation of various corporate governance issues related to ownership structures and agency conflicts in the U.S.
