Toyota was founded in 1933 as an automotive division of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works. It produced its first vehicles, the A1 passenger car and G1 truck, in 1935. In 1937, Toyota was established as an independent company. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, Toyota expanded its lineup and began selling vehicles under the "Toyopet" brand name.
