JobStart was a transitional jobs program created in 2010 that placed over 1,500 low-income individuals in temporary jobs. An evaluation found that on average, adult participants worked over 9 weeks and earned twice their household income. JobStart resulted in $3.9 million in wages for participants and had a positive economic impact on Cook County. Employers generally reported moderate positive effects on business performance from hiring JobStart participants.
