What is Drug-Induced Oral Lichenoid Reaction about?
Idiopathic lichen planus is an inflammatory disease characterized clinically by cutaneous papules and a keratinized network crosslinked at the level of the oral mucosa. The typical histological aspect is an inflammatory lympho-plasmocytic infiltrate under the basal membrane responsible for the formation of apoptotic bodies. Some drugs or local trauma can induce clinically and histologically lichenoid lesions of oral lichen planus. However, these lesions generally regress with suppression of the cause which distinguish them from true lesions of oral lichen planus. Lichen planus and lichenoïd lesions can be observed on skin and mucosa. Oral and genital mucosa are the main localizations.
