About this document
Birsa Munda Movement: Causes and Impact by ako is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The Birsa Munda movement began in the late 19th century as a religious purification movement among the Munda tribe in Chhotanagpur but later transformed into an armed revolt against British rule. Birsa Munda unified over 6,000 members of the Munda tribe against British interference in their social, economic, and political lives including the individualization of land ownership. Though Birsa Munda was arrested and died in prison in 1900, the revolt succeeded in restoring some tribal land rights and autonomy.
