About this document
British Imperialism and the East India Company by Saad Ali is a document available to read on EtoBox.
The Battle of Plassey in 1757 was a decisive victory for the British East India Company over the Nawab of Bengal and his forces. Through bribery and conspiring with Mir Jafar, who sought to replace the Nawab, Robert Clive was able to defeat a force many times the size of his own with only 800 Europeans and 2,200 Indian soldiers. This victory established British military and political control over Bengal and was a major stepping stone to British domination of India.
